Rally Obedience FAQs
What is Rally Obedience?
Rally Obedience, often called Rally or Rally-O, is a dog sport where handlers navigate their dogs through a course with designated stations, each indicating a different obedience exercise. It's designed to showcase the partnership between dog and handler in a fun and interactive way.
How is Rally Obedience different from traditional obedience courses?
In Rally, we break free from the rigid structure of traditional obedience where commands are delivered in a strict order, and embrace a more interactive and dynamic approach. Imagine navigating through a numbered course with your dog, engaging in a symphony of sits, downs, turns, and stays at each station - it's like dancing with your dog in perfect harmony. Unlike traditional obedience classes, Rally encourages freedom, creativity, and a deeper connection between you and your canine companion. Through each numbered course, you'll discover a new way to communicate with your dog, building trust, mutual understanding, and a bond that transcends words. Join the ICT Pack today and embark on this exciting journey of discovery and growth!
What skills does my dog need to start Rally?
Basic obedience skills like sit, stay, heel, and come are essential. Your dog should also be comfortable working on leash and around other dogs and people, as Rally courses are often performed in close proximity to others.
Do I need previous training to start Rally?
No! Rally can be enjoyed by beginners and experienced handlers alike. It's a great way to improve obedience skills while having fun with your dog. Many clubs and trainers offer classes specifically for Rally beginners.
What are the benefits of doing Rally Obedience with my dog?
Rally enhances communication between you and your dog, builds confidence, and strengthens obedience skills in a positive, supportive environment. It's also a great way to bond with your dog and meet other dog enthusiasts.
Can any dog participate in Rally?
Yes! Our Rally Obedience Courses are open to all dogs, regardless of breed, size, or age. However, dogs should be in good health and able to handle moderate physical activity. Please note, this class is not open to dogs who are reactive or have a bite history.
