About Our E-Collar Foundations Course
Instinct Canine Training’s E-Collar Course is a comprehensive program designed to slowly, fairly, and thoughtfully introduce your dog to the e-collar. The goal is not simply obedience, but clear communication and reliability in real world situations.
Throughout the course, dogs will build a solid recall while also layering in communication for foundational skills such as “Place” and basic obedience. The e-collar is used as a gentle communication tool, helping handlers reinforce clarity and responsiveness in a fair and humane way that does not cause harm to the dog. Anna Marie Stewart (DTTA-CPDT) has worked extensively with both Dogtra and E-Collar Technologies systems and is certified in safe usage and application through the Dog Trainer Tribe Academy. Her experience and education create an informative, supportive learning environment for both dogs and handlers. This semi private class is filled by application only. Dogs must first complete a basic obedience program through Instinct Canine Training to ensure a smooth and successful transition into e-collar work. * For clients who have not attended our Perfect Pet Obedience, we are happy to offer private training packages that combine the needed foundational obedience with e-collar training for a smooth training experience. What to expect during e-collar training
Instinct Canine Training's E-Collar course is six weeks in length and takes place at our Burlington training facility. During the course, you will learn that a gentle tapping sensation is all a dog should feel; similar to how you would feel a tap on your shoulder. Through this course, we will first learn the mechanics of how the electronic collar works and how to use it safely. What it is and what it is not (ie. it is not a magic wand). Next, we will gently introduce the collar and its sensation to your dog before moving on to teaching how to reinforce recall, place and a basic obedience command so that your dog will have absolute clarity on what is asked.
Your instructor, Anna Marie Stewart, DTTA-CPDT, is certified in e-collar. With years of experience, Anna Marie specializes in using e-collars in a fair, humane, and effective way. Having helped many dogs earn the freedom to enjoy more outdoor activities, she is committed to promoting safety, happiness, and proper use of this tool. Anna Marie’s education-first approach ensures you learn how to use the e-collar with confidence, giving both you and your dog a better quality of life.
